Wrapped Around Your Finger

Sometimes when I'm running, I get ideas. These ideas can create some really cool things from time to time. When running a game, I realized I needed to come up with a way to do a little circumventing of an Oracle's abilities. This is the result.

Ring of Twisted Fate

Aura Strong divination and illusion; CL 19th

Slot ring; Weight

DESCRIPTION

This is a thick brass and gold ring, etched to appear to be a woven band, supporting a fingernail-sized purple sapphire.  The wearer of this rings gains some abilities to alter their own fate. When the ring is first worn, the ring's bonuses for that wearer become set. The wearer gains a +1D4+1 luck bonus to AC, CMD and saving throws. This bonus cannot be changed for as long as the owner possesses the ring. If the owner loses and regains possession of the ring, the bonuses remain intact.

If the bearer of the ring is the target of a divination spell, and she is aware of the spell being cast,  the bearer can choose to alter the results of that divination spell. This permits them to appear as another alignment, point suspicion to another, or similar result. If they are not aware of the divination, the result will be misdirected according to the caster's innate suspicion. The caster must make a caster check with a DC equal to 10+the wearer's Charisma modifier + Character's level  + Luck bonus provided by the ring.

The more the ring is used in this manner, though, the more likely the person's "fate" can turn on them. There is a cumulative 1% chance that the luck bonus will become a penalty. This penalty lasts for a number of hours equal to the percentage number at the point that the penalty began.
